Columbia County has a new District 3 Commissioner.
According to the unofficial results on May 21, Michael Carraway won both the special election and regular election for the Columbia County Board of Commissioners District 3 seat. In the special election to finish out the term of Gary Richardson, Carraway received 2,692 votes (81.0%), while Rickey Merideth received 630 (18.9%). In the regular election, Carraway received 2,206 votes (85.8%), while Merideth received 365 votes (14.1%).

“Thank you to everyone who volunteered, supported and voted for me! I promise to work for all of the county and am humbled to be your next county commissioner,” Carraway said in a Facebook post.
The Georgia House of Representatives District 131 race will be heading to a runoff between Rob Clifton with 1,887 votes (48.7%) and Paul Abbott with 728 votes (18.8%). David Christian Byrne received 247 votes, (6.3%), Benjamin Shawn Cairns received 333 votes (8.6%) and Russell Wilder received 674 votes (17.4%). The winner of the runoff will face Democratic challenger Heather Rose White, who received 1,265 votes (100%) in the November election.
In the Columbia County Board of Commissioners District 2 race, Trey Allen received 1,460 votes (68.3%) and Mark E. Petersen received 677 votes (31.6%).
The Columbia County Board of Education District 4 race saw Katie Allen receive 1,276 votes (52.9%) and incumbent Lee Ann Meyer received 1,133 (47.0%).
