Fast casual dining chain Cava opened its latest location in Evans Wednesday morning.
The anticipated restaurant gave its formal CSRA debut a day after hosting a community day event offering complimentary meals for those who acquired tickets online beforehand, and collecting donations for Golden Harvest Food Bank.

The new eatery was still packed by Wednesday, parking lot mostly taken, drive-thru busy and dining area crowded with customers in line to order from its menu of Mediterranean-style cuisine.
Most opted for pita wraps, but also specialized bowls with vegetables, rice, dipping sauces such as hummus or tzatziki, and choices of shawarma chicken or braised lamb. Rather than soft drink staples like Coke or Pepsi products, beverage options came from Maine Root, a soda vendor that produces drinks with Brazilian cane sugar and other organic ingredients, with selections like blueberry lavender soda or Mexican cola.

The Washington, D.C.-based chain told TAP earlier this year that it had plans to open a new restaurant in Evans, even while construction at its Mullins Crossing site was underway and remained a mystery after ground had been broken.
Cava, which is, in fact, giving its employees a break on Thanksgiving, is located at 560 Mullins Colony Dr.
