CCSD investigating alleged inappropriate relationship between employee and former student

Date: January 28, 2025

Columbia County School District is investigating the report of an alleged inappropriate relationship between a former Evans High School student and an employee.

The district sent out a press release on Monday, Jan. 27 stating the investigation is ongoing and the employee has been placed on administrative leave.

“Safety of students and staff is a top priority and the CCSD does not condone nor does it tolerate inappropriate relationships. In an effort to keep you informed, we felt it was best to notify our parents of the ongoing investigation. Suspicious behavior should be immediately reported to a school administrator or by contacting the Columbia County School District anonymous Tip Hotline at 706-541-3600. Working together, we can continue to provide a safe, positive environment for students and staff,” the district said in the press release.

No other information is available at this time.

This isn’t the first time an employee of Evans High School has allegedly had a relationship with a student. In October 2024, Montell Watters, a lay coach at EHS, was criminally charged after Columbia County School District Police investigated an inappropriate relationship between him and an Evans High student.
