Take part in a colorful Hispanic holiday with the Augusta Museum of History as they celebrate Dia de Los Muertos and invite families from the CSRA to honor lost loved ones together.

Located at 560 Reynolds St., the museum’s festive event will start with a soft opening on Thursday, Oct. 26, and will end with a fun-filled day from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29.

With a 2 p.m. showing of Disney/Pixar’s Coco, the event’s last day will also feature various crafts in the Garden City Room, such as how to make marigold crowns and paper masks, while learning about the traditions associated with the holiday.

Working with the Asociación Hispanoaméricano del CSRA to educate others about the Nov. 1-2 holiday, the museum will showcase a community ofrenda, also known as an altar, where photos and offerings will be placed for lost loved ones.

“[These] are adorned with food, drinks, flowers, vibrant décor, personal items of relatives (photos) and more,” a press release from the museum stated.

Those who wish to have a family member or friend included in the community ofrenda will need to bring a framed photograph to the museum by Tuesday, Oct. 24.

Admission for the museum is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for children ages 6-18 and free for those 6 and under.
