The Central Savannah River Land Trust is throwing a party for a cause on Thursday, Nov. 6, at its 344-acre Sugarberry Hill preserve at 712 Blanchard Road in Evans.
The “Sugarberry Bash” includes oysters, slow-roasted pork, music, cocktails and – most importantly – an opportunity to visit a unique wilderness that will remain intact and undeveloped for generations.

Sugarberry Hill was a gift from Mrs. Laverne Dorn, whose family raised cattle and hay on the property since 1970 and where she later built her dream home, complete with formal English gardens, barns and other amenities.
After her death in 2022, it was donated to the Land Trust, a non-profit organization that helps landowners protect forests, farms, wetlands, and open spaces that define our region’s character. To date. it has protected more than 10,000 acres throughout the central Savannah River basin.
