A change of command ceremony Wednesday June 30 brought a new commanding general to the U.S. Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon.

Brig. Gen. Paul Stanton assumed command from Maj. Gen. Neil Hersey during the ceremony on Barton Field.

Stanton is no stranger to troops stationed at Fort Gordon. He has been serving as deputy commanding general (Operations) at the U.S. Cyber Command at Fort Gordon.

“Our mission at the Cyber Center of Excellence is to educate and train our soldiers, current and future, for the most highly technical responsibilities,” he said. “Our friends from military intelligence, our friends and partners from the National Security Agency are resident here so the folks that we train and teach turn right around and work on the installation. Fantastic, symbiotic relationship.”

Hersey, who became the commanding general in June 2019, will remain at Fort Gordon. He will transition to the position Stanton filled prior to Wednesday’s change of command.
