Recent submissions to Richmond County Planning and Development indicate that Augusta National has some new plans along Washington Road.

Two projects at 2604 Washington Road were presented to the planning department for review this month. The first, called Hole 18 & 8 Patron Hub, was sent on March 3 with Augusta National Facilities Manager Russell Owen listed as the primary contact, is a proposed demolition and rebuild for a restroom and concession area.

As of March 7, the patron hub is still under evaluation. Zoning has given conditional approval and the Engineering Department’s decision is pending. Fire and Utilities have both disapproved, however. The fire department is insisting that access roads be at least 20 feet in width. The Utilities Department has a host of comments, including that all sewer and water be labeled private and that fire line backflow and grease interceptors meet department standards.

The second project, also pending review, submitted on March 10 with Augusta National project manager Jeff Smith attached as the primary, is preliminary grading and erosion control along about six acres for “golf course amenities,” according to the project information listing with the county. This work is proposed for North Campus of the course, in the shopping center owned by the National at 2505 Washington Road.
