Chick-fil-A may be coming to Riverwood Plantation.

On Nov. 7, a representative of Peachtree Corners, Ga. engineering firm Forsite Group, on behalf of Chick-fil-A, and landowner Bert Pollard submitted variance and conditional use requests at a two-acre tract at the intersection of Washington Road and Market View Parkway.

Concept plans show a 5,000 square foot restaurant building, with a drive-thru and some 70 parking spaces, with willow oaks planted throughout the lot.

The developers are seeking a conditional use permit to build the restaurant, per the PUD requirements for Riverwood Plantation. The variance request seeks to reduce the required 125-foot setback to 80 feet from the Washington Road centerline to make way for the eatery’s drive-thru canopies.

The requests come to the county as the construction of another Chick-Fil-A in Columbia County, located at the former site of Steak ‘N’ Shake along Jimmie Dyess Parkway, is well underway.

The Planning Commission will consider the requests for the prospective chicken spot during its upcoming meeting on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m..
