Child taken to hospital after being found unresponsive in swimming pool

A 4-year-old boy has been taken to the hospital after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool.

At 11:02 a.m. Tuesday, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office and Burke County EMA responded to a residence on Deer Run Road regarding a possible drowning.

A nurse was on the scene and provided CPR until EMA arrived, according to an email from Capt. Jimmy Wylds of the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

The child was taken to Burke County Hospital, where he received treatment, but he will be transferred to Augusta University Medical Center.
