The Chuck E. Cheese on Wrightsboro Road has finished its high-tech remodel in time for summer crowds.

The family entertainment center will have a celebratory event on Thursday, June 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., which will include raffle prizes, free cake and an appearance from Chuck E. Cheese.

The first 25 families in line for the event will be awarded with one hour of free game play for the night.

New features at the venue, which was able to complete the remodel without closing, include an interactive dance floor, a large format video wall and screens with audio connected throughout the center.

This is the latest remodeling project for the Irving-based company, which is updating locations to meet shifts in consumer demand. In January, it announced that it had remodeled about 200 of its nearly 600 centers, with plans to remodel another 100 locations in 2023.

The remodeled centers have more space, new games and tech upgrades, including e-tickets, touchless payment options, self-service kiosks and mobile table ordering.

Last month, Chuck E. Cheese hired a new chief marketing officer, Sean Gleason, to help with its turnaround efforts. Gleason previously served as chief marketing officer at Dave & Buster’s, helping the Chuck E. Cheese competitor grow its revenue from $521 million to $1.4 billion. He also served in marketing leadership positions at Pizza Hut and Dr Pepper Snapple Group.

Its parent company, CEC Entertainment, which also operates more than 120 Peter Piper Pizza venues, previously filed for bankruptcy in June 2020, allowing it to reduce its debt by $705 million.
