City of Aiken to host Breakfast at the Gallops in March

The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism will host the 16th annual Breakfast at the Gallops on Friday, March 15 at 8 a.m. at the Aiken Training Track. 

At the breakfast, attendees can watch juvenile and older campaigners before they depart Aiken for different racetracks around the country. Local trainers will be available to speak with attendees about the different training methods used to train Aiken’s equine athletes. 

The guest speaker will be Robbie Davis, a retired jockey with 3,382 career wins and $115, 751, 495 in career earnings. Throughout his career, Davis has won several premier races including the 1986 Washington, D.C. International Stakes, the 1994 Pimlico Special and Canadian International Stakes, and the 1998 Wood Memorial Stakes. Davis is now a trainer whose horses have raced 363 times with 16 wins, 17 seconds, 21 thirds and $1,187,188 in earnings.

Tickets for Breakfast at the Gallops are available now. They are $20 each in advance or $30 at the gate. Space is limited, and tickets can be purchased at the H. Odell Weeks Center, Folly, Meybohm Real Estate, Aiken Training Track Office, the Aiken Visitors Center & Train Museum or the Aiken County Visitors Center. There will not be any refunds. 

Attendees should enter at the 724 Two Notch Road entrance, and all vehicles must stop for horses. Online registration can be done at https://e.sparxo.com/Breakfast-at-the-Gallops.

A portion of the proceeds will support the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum.
