Growing up in Columbia County meant spending a lot of summer days at Clarks Hill.
“We did a lot of camping weekends, birthday parties at the lake, the Fourth of July and Labor Day. It’s a cool place,” said Jameson Tankersley, whose song paying homage to the lake is part of “Too Hot To Hold,” the debut EP by his band, Jameson Tank.
The EP is set to be released Aug. 12. On Aug. 6, the band will play at Williemacs in Lincolnton, and on Sept. 11, it will play at Sole in Augusta.

“This EP is a result of the past year of writing and recording music, and the first two singles have been received greatly,” Tankersley said.
Those two singles have also received some airplay on the radio in Atlanta and Athens, he said.
Tankersley attended school at Harlem Middle and Harlem High before graduating from Glascock County High School and then the University of Georgia.
Music has played an important role in his life, but until recently, he was strictly a solo musician, releasing a solo EP in 2018.

In 2019, he joined up with three “top notch” musicians — Conner Ankerich on drums, Bryce Burnette on lead guitar and Javier Solozardo on bass guitar —from the Athens area to form the band, Jameson Tank.

Tankersley called the band’s music “high-energy, upbeat rock.”
While each member has been influenced by different musicians, Tankersley said some of his musical inspirations have included Tom Petty and Van Halen.

The band has played Athens’ legendary 40 Watt Club and been featured at several area hotspots including The Soul Bar.
Jameson Tank is scheduling tour dates to promote the recording including the 40 Watt Club again on the day the EP drops. Four Southern states are part of the initial tour, but Tankersley hopes the band’s reach will expand beyond the Southeast.
