Date: April 03, 2025

The fourth-ranked Clemson Tigers (27-5) defeated Georgia Southern, 10-8, in a neutral site game at SRP Park in North Augusta on Tuesday, April 1. It was Clemson’s first visit to the Augusta Green Jackets home stadium since 2021 while the Eagles defeated Georgia last year in the minor league park. Georgia Southern is now 17-11 for the year.

The Eagles starting pitcher Thomas Burke struggled with control, walking four batters and giving up a run before being replaced on the mound by Carter DeGondea with two outs in the opening frame. The Tigers scored once more in the first and added another run in the third inning before Georgia Southern got on the scoreboard with two runs in the fourth inning.  The Tigers expanded their lead by scoring three more runs in the sixth inning while the Eagles added two runs. The Tigers scored four more times in the eighth inning but the Eagles fought back with four runs of their own in the bottom half of the ninth inning to close out the scoring for the night.

Joe Allen (3-0) picked up the win for the Tigers while Burke (0-1) took the loss for Georgia Southern. Lucas Mahlstedt recorded the final two outs for Clemson to earn his ninth save this season.

Clemson was led at the plate by Jack Crighton (2-4, 1 RBI) and Josh Paino (2-4, 3 RBI), and Collin Priest and Tryson McCladdie added two RBIs each. Josh Tate (2-4, 1 RBI), Jonathan Jaime (2-4, 1 RBI), JP Herrholtz (2-3, 2 RBI) and Luk Odden (2-4, 4 RBI) led the Eagles’ offense.  The Tigers had two errors while Georgia Southern had four, and each team left 12 runners on base.
