Clifton wins District 131 runoff in Columbia County

Rob Clifton won the Georgia House of District 131 runoff for the Republican ticket on Tuesday, June 18. 

In the unofficial votes, Clifton received 1,561 votes (73.29%), while Paul Abbot received 569 votes (26.71%). There were 2,133 (4.545) ballots cast out of 47,032 registered voters in District 131. The results will become official after the Columbia County Board of Elections certifies them on June 21.

“I’m very excited to be able to serve Columbia County in this role,” Clifton said. “(I’m) happy to thank the people that supported me, I couldn’t thank them enough. This is definitely a team effort and thank (you to) everyone that voted for me and believed in me, I won’t let you down.”

The winner of the runoff will face Democratic challenger Heather Rose White in the November election.
