T-shirts often come with messages, but the ones hanging at Jaguar Field near the Christenberry Fieldhouse didn’t advertise a local business or highlight a rock concert.

They targeted sexual violence and featured messages such as “rape is never the victim’s fault” and “silence doesn’t mean yes.” Others contained poems.

The T-shirts were part of the annual Clothesline Project featuring messages and illustrations designed by survivors of sexual assault or allies of sexual violence prevention, according to an Augusta University news release.

The T-shirts were placed at Jaguar Field Monday along with T-shirts on other parts of the campus including the Summerville Campus and Health Sciences Campus.

The Clothesline Project will remain up through April 29.

It’s one of several events on campus designed to raise awareness during the month of April.

Another event is the Run A Mile in Their Shoes sponsored by Alpha Chi Omega, which is a 1-mile walk/run fundraiser to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence at 9 a.m. April 23 at Augusta University’s Summerville Campus.
