Pilates is the latest exercise craze to grip the nation after celebrities like Lori Harvey and Hailey Bieber have spoken out on how the low-impact exercises with a focus on core strength have given them their dream bodies.
The global pilates and yoga studios market size hit about $100 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach $145 billion by 2027, according to market research firm ReportLinker.
That’s why Club Pilates is adding a location at Augusta Exchange, sandwiched between Sleep Number and Natural Nail Bar in the shopping strip across from Chick-fil-A. It’s expected to open in the first half of July, according to Breanna Miller, general manager of the new club.
The fitness franchise, which started in San Diego in 2007 and uses the Pilates Reformer machine, previously opened a location in July 2020 in Mullins Crossing Shopping Center in Evans. It’s the largest pilates brand with more than 800 studios across four continents, according to its website.
The Evans site has done well enough that it was time for a second location, said Miller.
“So many people who would visit the Evans club would say it was out of their way because they live downtown or somewhere else further out,” Miller said. “I think this spot will be convenient for a lot of people.”
Pricing options include an unlimited membership for $229 per month, a four-class package for $109 per month and an eight-class package for $199 a month. However, the first 50 members to sign up for classes will get 20% off either an unlimited membership or an eight-class per month membership.
Miller, a self-proclaimed fitness lover who previously was a store manager at a Palm Beach Tan, said she started taking pilates classes in February 2022 after considering going back to school to become a physical therapist.
“We deal with a lot of people with back injuries, and we have members with ALS who come to us to try to get their muscle memory back,” she said. “I just started due to my interest in physical therapy and learned how much more it has to offer.”
