Colorful DUI suspect responds to viral mugshot

Kiara Key's colorful mugshot after her DUI arrest went viral online

Date: June 23, 2024

A Grovetown woman with rainbow hair and glittery eyes has responded to a viral mugshot of her following a recent DUI arrest.

Kiara Amani Key, 22, is a self-described makeup artist and dessert maker. She was arrested June 15 in Augusta for DUI, open container, failure to maintain lane and a magistrate’s court warrant.

When her photo was posted on Facebook, it quickly racked up hundreds of comments and reactions as well as over 100 shares.

Online, Jas Layah said Key has been like this since high school and “always does her makeup good.” Herrera Bakes said she “killed that mugshot!” And Nick Cawley said “at least she didn’t try to run” because “the police could of easily followed that glitter trail.”

“She may have partied hard and had a good time before that pic was taken, but you can tell her makeup looked good before this,” said Sarah Howard Miller. “And it looks good in every other picture and video she has posted. Her look may not be for everyone, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t done an amazing job with her technique. I love it!!”

Key reacted to many of the comments, even providing makeup tips and offering her services through her Instagram page of @pisceaura. She also promised to never drive impaired again.

Kiara Key is shown in six photos in this collage taken from her Facebook page.

Tamarsha Quarterman called her “super talented.”

“Keep going and don’t let these people tell you otherwise,” Quarteman said. “Just be safe. We don’t wanna lose all this talent.”

Jamie Kroupa said, “This unicorn is magical, but what’s not magical is DUI. Luckily she didn’t kill anyone.”

Key responded, “I didn’t even blow over a .8 promise I wasn’t putting nobody life at risk. I’m innocent until proven guilty.”

Von London asked for details on her makeup, and Key responded “I use a white primer base and face paints!!”

But Key hasn’t always been so friendly. A 2021 sheriff’s report from her days working at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Grovetown paints a judgmental picture.

Key got into a fight with a co-worker when the other employee got irritated with her verbal attacks.

“Ms. Key stated they were arguing over chicken when she told Mrs. Brown she was ugly,” a Columbia County sheriff’s report says. “Mrs. Brown has medical disability that causes issues with the skin on her face.  Mrs. Brown then ran over to her and started the physical altercation so she [Key] swung back in self-defense.”

The co-worker was treated by paramedics and then arrested for simple battery on Key.
