E.R. Snell contractors are set to continue construction work on two major roadways in Columbia County as part of ongoing roadway widening projects.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and delays in the coming weeks, according to a press release from Columbia County.

Lewiston Road widening:
From Monday, June 23 to Friday, June 27, E. R. Snell will close lanes intermittently on Lewiston Road between Columbia Road and the Diverging Diamond Interchange of Interstate 20.

This closure will occur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily to accommodate concrete work associated with the widening project, according to a press release from Columbia County.

Drivers are urged to slow down in work zones, maintain extra distance between vehicles, follow road crew flaggers’ instructions and expect potential surprises.

Alternate routes are recommended, and additional commute time should be planned for, according to a press release from Columbia County.

Furys Ferry Road construction:
Starting Tuesday, June 24 through Tuesday, July 8, there will be intermittent, nightly lane closures on Furys Ferry Road and surrounding areas.

Between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., contractors will close lanes on Hardy McManus Road between Sam Baston Road and Furys Ferry Road.

Additionally, nightly closures will occur on Furys Ferry Road between Hardy McManus Road and North Belair Road, according to a press release from Columbia County. These closures are expected to be intermittent and will not overlap, minimizing disruption.

Motorists traveling through these construction zones are advised to reduce speed, exercise caution and expect possible delays. Alternate routes and additional time for travel are encouraged during this construction period.

These projects are part of Columbia County’s efforts to improve local infrastructure, and drivers are reminded by Columbia County officials to remain vigilant for signs and flaggers directing traffic through the affected areas.
