Drivers should expect several temporary lane closures on and around Lewiston Road next week as Columbia County and contractor E.R. Snell continue work on the roadway-widening project.
A northbound right through lane on Lewiston Road, about 1,000 feet south of Columbia Road, will be closed daily from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, and Tuesday, Dec. 2, weather permitting.
Beginning Tuesday, Dec. 2, intermittent lane closures will also occur at the I-20/Lewiston Road Diverging Diamond Interchange. Those closures will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through Tuesday, Dec. 9, weather permitting.
The county is urging motorists to use caution in work zones: slow down, leave extra distance between vehicles, watch for warning signs, obey flaggers and “expect the unexpected.”
Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes or allow extra travel time during the closure periods, according to a press release from Columbia County.
