Columbia County has announced there will be temporary road closures throughout the county as work is done to restore power and fix other damaged utility lines.

“These activities are ongoing, and we do not have estimated routes or times as to when and where crews will be,” the county said in a press release. “Utility crews are diligently working to restore services and ensure the safety of our infrastructure. However, these efforts can pose hazards for both workers and motorists. By minimizing travel during this period, you can help reduce congestion, allowing workers to complete their tasks more efficiently and safely.’

When a driver approaches a work zone, they are reminded to slow down, allow extra distances between vehicles, watch for advanced warning signs, obey flaggers and expect delays. If at all possible, drivers are encouraged to stay off the roads as much as possible and limit trips as crews work to repair utilities.

“The safety of our community, including both drivers and the dedicated workers on the road, is our top priority,” the county said.
