Columbia County officials are notifying the public of two temporary road closures in the Evans Towne Center area for this year’s “BOOM! in the Park” event.

The closures will help ensure the safety of pedestrians and reduce conflicts between foot traffic and vehicles during the high-traffic event, according to a press release from Columbia County.

The first closure will affect Antebellum Way, which will be closed to all traffic starting at 6 a.m. on Friday, July 4, and will remain closed until midnight.

The second closure will involve Evans Towne Center Boulevard, from Ronald Reagan Drive to the Evans Towne Center Park parking lot exit gate. This section of the roadway will be closed to through traffic from 6 a.m. until midnight on the same day.

Event organizers are closing these roads to manage pedestrian traffic, which is expected to be especially heavy during event ingress and egress times.

Drivers in the area are urged to remain vigilant, follow traffic control devices and stay alert for pedestrians, particularly children, who may enter the roadway unexpectedly.
