The Columbia County Board of Commissioners will discuss sending a letter regarding the expansion of State Route 47 from Appling to Harlem.

The commissioner will discuss would be sent to the Georgia Department of Transportation for project support to widen State Route 47/Highway 221.

“If the Georgia Department of Transportation approves a project to widen State Route 47/Highway 221 from Appling to Harlem Georgia, the county will contribute $2,000,000. GDOT is requesting a letter indicating the support of this project,” according to the agenda document

Staff is recommending sending the letter in support. 

On the agenda is a rezoning request for 562 Roundtree Way to allow for the use of a preschool with a new playground, along with the approved church. According to the agenda document, staff is recommending approval. During the meeting, commissioners will present two proclamations. One will declare April as Native Plant Month and the other will declare April as Safe Digging Month
