Columbia County Board of Commissioners to discuss purchases for Fire Rescue during Tuesday meeting

The Columbia County Board of Commissioners will discuss purchases, an appointment and zoning issues during the meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Commissioners will discuss a request to purchase a stock fire pumper and a request to purchase a heavy rescue unit, both from Pierce Manufacturing.

According to the agenda documents, Columbia County Fire Rescue needs to replace the fire pumper and heavy rescue unit, but both take 36 to 40 months to build a custom pumper. However, Fire Rescue has found a pumper and rescue unit already being and both can be delivered by June 2024. The total price for the pumper is $801,000 and the price for the rescue unit is $767,436. Staff is recommending approva of both purchases.

The appointment of Sandra Carraway to the Library Board of Trustees is also on the agenda. According to the agenda document, Carraway would fulfill the unexpired term of Stephanie Coghlan. Staff is recommending approval.

A major PRD (Planned Residential Development) Revision for 4045 Evans to Locks Road to add duplexes to the development, add pervious parking space and reduce the buffer width and reduce select side setbacks. The staff is recommending approval with conditions, according to the agenda document.

The Columbia County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7 in the auditorium at the Evans Government Center.
