Columbia County Board of Commissioners to set qualifying fees for 2024 election

The Columbia County Board of Commissioners will discuss a resolution for qualifying fees for the 2024 election.

According to the agenda document, state law requires that the commissioners shall, no later than Feb. 1, set and publish the qualifying fees for each county office that will be filled in a general primary, nonpartisan or general election. 

The offices up for election and their respective qualifying fees are: Columbia County Sheriff’s Office ($2,994.37 qualifying fee), District 2 Commissioner ($195 qualifying fee), District 3 Commissioner ($195 qualifying fee), Board of Education chairperson ($315 qualifying fee), Board of Education District 1 ($255 qualifying fee), Board of Education District 4 ($255 qualifying fee), Tax Commissioner ($2,767.14 qualifying fee), Probate Judge ($2,767.14 qualifying fee), Clerk of Superior Court ($2, 767.14 qualifying fee), Chief Magistrate ($2,822.48) and Coroner ($480). 

The appointment of Mark Moody to the Columbia County Planning Commission is also on the agenda.

The full agenda can be found at columbiacountyga.gov. The Columbia County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2 in the auditorium at the Evans Government Center.
