The Columbia County Board of Elections is making a temporary precinct change for the upcoming June election.

Board of Elections Executive Director Nancy Gay told the board during the meeting on Tuesday that precinct 062/Parkway Baptist Church is not available for the June 17 special primary election. Voters will temporarily vote at precinct 068/Parkway Elementary. In March, the board approved several precinct changes due to multiple reasons.

Gay said since the last election, they have packed up the equipment at the former Euchee Creek Library because it is supposed to be renovated. After discussion about what to do, it was decided to only have advanced voting at G3 in Evans due to an expected low voter turnout.

The June 17 special primary election is for Public Service Commission Districts 2 and 3. The absentee by mail application period is now open and will remain open until June 6. The absentee by mail mailing period is May 27 through June 6. The voter registration deadline is May 19. Advanced voting will take place May 27 – June 13, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be Saturday voting on May 31 and June 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Election Day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and voters must go to their assigned polling precincts.
