The Columbia County Community and Emergency Services Committee will discuss a resolution to create the Columbia County Regional Library Board and dissolving the Columbia County Advisory Board during the meeting on Tuesday.

According to the agenda document, with Columbia County creating its own, single county system, the county will withdraw from the Greater Clarks Hill Regional Library Board (GCHRL) system on Dec. 31, 2025. In preparation of creating its own system, the county is also dissolving the Columbia County Library Advisory Board effective July 1, 2026. However, the current appointments to the GCHRL Board will remain until Dec. 31, 2025.

The libraries that will be in the Columbia County Regional Library System will be the main library in Evans, the Grovetown Library and the Harlem library.

The agenda document states the Columbia County Regional Library Board, which will start Jan. 1, 2026, will consist of five members to be named later.

Staff is recommending approval of the resolution.
