Columbia County Commission Denies Rezoning Request

Columbia County announces the opening of Gateway Boulevard Extension

Date: February 17, 2021

The Columbia County Commission voted 4-to-1 Tuesday to disapprove the rezoning request for 5959 Boulder Ct., from a R-A (residential agricultural) to S-1 (special).

The residents of the property were planning to add a pet boarding facility on their property that would house a maximum of 20 dogs. Neighbors objected to the facility being located in the residential area because of noise and sanitation.

Tumbleweeds Tavern, doing business as Backyard Tavern, was found to be non-compliant in their alcohol beverage license requirements due to not having a full-service kitchen. Their license has been suspended until renovations have been completed and the kitchen is up to code.

Columbia County 2020 Employee of the Year was awarded to Jamarius Tate of Fire Rescue and the Columbia County 2020 Team of the Year was awarded to Roads and Bridges On-Call Team.

Commissioners also approved annual bank accounts; purchase of lease accounting software from LeaseQuery; support agreements for Ceina Network Equipment, Software, and Services. Commissioners also approved amending the Bylaws of the Local Emergency Planning Committee and service agreement for Project Access FY2020.

Lastly, commissioners agreed to change their April 6 meeting to March 30.
