Columbia County committees to meet Tuesday

Tuesday will be a busy day for Columbia County as all five committees will be meeting before the holidays.

The Columbia County Management and Internal Services Committee, Development and Planning Services, Community and Emergency Services, Public Works and Engineer Services and Audit Committee will all meet.

The DPS Committee will discuss alcoholic beverage licenses for multiple businesses, including The 1790 Club, 2 Boys Pizza and Grill LLC, Belair Real Estate LLC dba Hampton Inn & Suites Augusta West, Miyako of Grovetown and Evans Liquor LLC dba Spirits Drive Thru.

For the 1790 Club, the organization is seeking to sell beer, wine and distilled spirits for on premises consumption, according to the agenda document. 2 Boys Pizza and Grill is seeking to sell beer and wine for on premise consumption, according to the agenda document. Belair Real Estate LLC dba Hampton Inn & Suites Augusta West is seeking to sell beer and wine for off premise consumption, according to the agenda document. Miyako of Grovetown is seeking to sell beer, wine and distilled spirits for on premise consumption, according to the agenda document. Evans Liquor LLC dba Spirits Drive Thru is seeking to sell beer, wine and distilled spirits for off premise consumption. 

Approval of all five licenses is recommended by staff. 

The DPS Committee will also discuss an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Grovetown for Fire Marshall Services. 

“The City of Grovetown is requesting an agreement with Columbia County for Fire Marshal Services to perform Fire Marshal Services within the City on an as-needed basis. Services will be for the buildings listed in O.C.G.A. 25-2-13(b), and all request must be in writing to the Columbia County Director of Development Services. This agreement will automatically renew for an additional one (1) year term, unless written notice of non-renewal is provided by either party sixty (60) days prior to the expiration of the then current term,” according to the agenda document.

The MIS Committee will discuss a new victim’s advocate administrative assistant position. According to the agenda document, District Attorney Bobby Christine wants to create the new position. This position will complete normal administrative assistant duties, along with supporting the Victim’s Advocate Program. This position will have an hourly salary of $20.47 and a cell phone allowance of $1,440. Staff is recommending approval.

The first meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12 in the auditorium of the Evans Government Center Complex. The other meetings will start following the prior one.
