The Columbia County Public Works and Engineering Services and Community and Emergency Services committees will meet on Tuesday.

The Public Works and Engineering Services (PWES) Committee will discuss a resolution deeding the State Patrol Post (051001C) to the States Properties Commission.

“In 2008, the Board approved a resolution that stated that upon completion of construction, the County will deed the land with the building thereon to the State to be used as a State Patrol Post. The State Properties Commission has never presented this deed to the Board. The State Properties Commission would like another Resolution which states that the building will be used for a State Patrol Post or revert to the County,” according to the agenda document.

Staff is recommending approval of the item.

The PWES Committee will also discuss an independent contractor agreement with American Pipeline Solutions for the water main cleaning project in the amount of $785,300.

The company will perform ice pigging and mechanical pigging services, which will clean the water pipes.

Ice pigging utilizes an ice slurry to clean water distribution pipelines and is used for smaller lines. Distribution line cleaning is important to remove mineral deposits that form over decades of water transmission,” according to the agenda document.

Staff is recommending approval.

Community and Emergency Services Committee

The Community and Emergency Services Committee will discuss the acceptance of a soccer grant in the amount of $1,308 from the Atlanta United-Blank Foundation.

“The Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA), in partnership with the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, the Atlanta Falcons Youth Fund and the Atlanta United Community Fund, is offering GRPA member agencies funding for programmatic costs across the state to help serve communities through Youth Football and Soccer. Six agencies in each SCRPA district qualify to receive the funding to offset programming costs. Columbia County Parks, Recreation, and Events was selected as one of the six agencies in District 1,” according to the agenda document.

Staff is recommending approval.

The committees will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 8:30 a.m. in the auditorium at the Evans Government Center Complex. To view the agendas, visit columbiacountyga.gov.
