Columbia County Election Updates

UPDATE: 10:01 p.m.

Alison Couch held an election night party at her home in Harlem and fed the 30 supporters pizza and chocolate candy. Couch is challenging incumbent Dewey Galeas for the Columbia County District 4 commission seat.

“I’m a little bit nervous, but in a good way,” Couch said as she paced on her front porch. “It’s going to be really close.”

While children played wiffle ball in the front yard, Couch looked at the Columbia County government website for updates on her race.

As of 9:50 p.m., Couch was up by 86 votes with 2,834.

UPDATE: 9:55 p.m.

With 22 of 50 precincts reporting the District 4 commission is close with Allison Couch holding 51.52% and Dewey Galeas at 48.48%.

In the District 3 School Board race incumbent Judy Teasley is still leading with 52.82% of the vote with Ashley Lee in second with 37.03%.

In the District 2 School Board race incumbent Krista Baker’s lead has not changed with her holding 59% of the vote.

Columbia County Election Update: Early voting results show District 4 commissioner incumbent Dewey Galeas leading Alison Couch by only 40 votes. Galeas had 683 votes to Couch’s 643.

In the District 3 School Board race, incumbent Judy Teasley is leading 1,532 votes or 52.3% of the vote with Ashley Lee in second with 35.8% and Melvin Mahone with 11.8%

In the District 2 School Board race, incumbent Krista Baker has 1,518 votes or 59 percent of the vote – a commanding lead over her three challengers, John Duggan, Sandy Steed and Lee Benedict.
