Columbia County might be the location and the subject of an upcoming documentary television series.
New York-based production company Engel Entertainment is developing a series focusing on 311 call centers and has pitched the ideas to producers. Engel is currently in the process of obtaining agreements with the various locations it would like to showcase, one of which is Columbia County.
Engel Entertainment has produced films and television for several networks such as A&E, The History Channel and the National Geographic Channel. Some of its series include “Alaska PD,” “Lone Star Law” and “Runaway Moms.”
Development is in its earliest stages, and producers to whom Engel Entertainment has pitched the series have yet to commit to its production, but Columbia County has already been presented with an agreement contract that would grant Engel access to the county’s 311 call center and record its activities.

Columbia County spokesperson Cassidy Harris said the county is looking forward to the opportunity, though little information is available as the production is in its preliminary stages.
“We are very excited about the potential opportunity to showcase our 311 call center and employees,” said Harris. “We only have limited information at this time and would like to be able to provide better, detailed information once everything has been given the green light.”
The Board of Commissioners has not yet officially accepted the agreement, but county administration has recommended that the county enter the agreement, and the matter is on the consent agenda for the Board of Commissioners meeting Nov. 16.
Once the agreement has been approved by the Board of Commissioners, Harris says, it will go back to Engel Entertainment in order for it to seek further commitment to the project from producers.
