A Columbia County man convicted of repeatedly molesting four little girls has been sentenced to life in prison plus 59 years.

Rodney Brown, 63, was arrested in March 2018 on charges of abusing young children over a two-year period. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and told a jury last week that the allegations against him were false.

But a Columbia County Superior Court jury convicted Brown of eight of nine counts of sexual abuse, said Assistant District Attorney Amber Brantley who prosecuted the case.

Brown sexually abused the children beginning when they were between 4 to 7 years old, Brantley said. Brown had no prior felony history before last week’s conviction.

Brantley is among the first prosecutors District Attorney Bobby Christine hired after he was appointed to be the first top prosecutor for the newly formed Columbia County Judicial Circuit last year.

“The crimes against these children were horrific,” Christine said. “ADA Brantley displayed a mastery of the law and a commanding courtroom presence. (Brantley) successfully secured justice in a hard case.”
