The Columbia County Library Board will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Evans Library in classrooms B and C. On the agenda are four books up for reconsideration, and these reconsiderations follow five that were discussed and voted on in October. The Columbia County Management and Internal Services Committee will discuss a resolution that urges the governor and General Assembly to continue efforts to improve mental health services for Georgia citizens. Staff is recommending approval.
“ACCG is strongly encouraging every county in the state to adopt a resolution urging the Governor and General Assembly to continue efforts to reform and improve mental health services for the citizens of Georgia. Specifically to continue efforts in 2024 Session of the Georgia Assembly to enhance Georgia Citizens’ access to vital mental health services, including the provision of state budgetary funding for additional behavioral health crisis centers across the state, additional co-responder units, and other resources to assist those with mental health and substance abuse disorders,” according to the agenda document.
The MIS Committee will also consider a request from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office to purchase a new AFIS machine for fingerprinting.
