Columbia County Library System to hold first meeting Thursday

The Columbia County Library System will hold its first meeting on Thursday, Nov. 6.

The system, which was created over the summer after the Columbia County Board of Commissioners voted to leave the Greater Clarks Hill Regional Library System and create its own, single-county region by creating the Columbia County Library System.

On Oct. 21, the Board of Commissioners approved the initial appointments to the board.

Those appointments are:

  • Connie Melear – countywide (Columbia County District 1 Commissioner)
  • Rusty Jarrett – District 1
  • District 2 vacant (will be filled following the District 2 special election)
  • Secelia Brown – District 3
  • John Luton – District 4 (Community Services division director)

On the proposed agenda for Thursday’s meeting is the election of chair, vice chair and secretary/treasurer. The adoption of Columbia County Library System constitution and bylaws, along with an executive session to discuss personnel are also on the proposed agenda. 

The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Evans branch of the Columbia County Library in meeting room A. To view the agenda, visit columbiacountyga.gov.
