A local man was arrested on two counts of child molestation after he admitted touching two twin girls on a regular basis in Grovetown, according to Columbia County authorities.

Michael Ryan Crutchfield, 42, was arrested last Wednesday on the two felony counts.

The details on the crimes are spelled out in arrest warrants, which say the suspect inappropriately touched the breasts and buttocks of the victims in an attempt to arouse himself.

“Michael Crutchfield admitted that he has been molesting (the girls) since 2020 on a regular basis,” the warrants say.

An incident report indicates the case started Nov. 26 when Columbia County sheriff’s investigators were called to the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta for a “suspicious situation.” The suspect was arrested the same day.

A booking sheet lists the suspect’s height and weight as 6’3” tall and 300 pounds. The twin sisters’ age was not listed in the incident report or warrants.

Georgia law (OCGA 16-6-4) makes child molestation a serious felony, punishable by 5–20 years for a first offense and 10–30 years or even life for a second offense. Facing two counts can therefore result in a combined sentence that ranges from decades in prison to the possibility of life imprisonment.
