The Columbia County Management and Internal Services Committee approved moving forward with board and committee appointments for 2024.

The following boards will have members reappointed: Animal Services Advisory Board, Civil Services Commission, Construction Board, Drainage Basin Advisory Council, Greenspace Advisory Board, Historic Preservation Advisory Committee, Planning Commission, Recreation Board, Tree Advisory Board, Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Library Board of Trustees and Greater Clarks Hill Regional Library Board, Development Authority and the Board of Tax Assessor. The MIS Committee also approved moving forward with presenting a proclamation recognizing the Greenbrier High School Flag Football team for winning the state championship.

“The Greenbrier High School Flag Football Team became the first team in the CSRA to win a state championship since the Georgia High School Association adopted the sport 4 years ago. We would like to recognize their accomplishment with a proclamation,” according to the agenda document

The Columbia County Development and Planning Services Committee approved moving forward with the purchase of ice pigging from American Pipeline Solutions for $292,353.00.

“Ice pigging is utilized to remove biological and chemical build up on drinking water distribution system components by pressurizing columns of ice laden water within the pipelines. Ice pigging can be utilized in smaller pipelines much more effectively than traditional mechanical pigging and can be utilized without modifications to existing infrastructure,” according to the agenda document
