The Columbia County Public Works and Engineering Services Committee, along with the Community and Emergency Services Committee, will meet on Tuesday.

On the agenda for the PWES Committee is an independent contractor agreement with Benesch for the Euchee Creek Greenway multi-use trail project. According to the agenda document, the trail would be along Euchee Creek between Wrightsboro Road and Canterbury Farms Parkway and the contract for engineering services is for $53,775.00.

“The project location was originally approved in 2013 with W.R. Toole Engineers (now Benesch) completing the final design in 2018,” the agenda document states. “Construction funds were not identified at the time, leading to the project being “shelved.” On December 16, 2019, the second Transportation Investment Act (TIA 2) passed for 2023-2032, which included funding for remaining phases of the Euchee Creek Greenway system….This project is to construct a 10 ft. wide paved shared-use path and boardwalks to connect the current trail termini at Wrightsboro Rd in Grovetown and Canterbury Pkway.”

On the agenda for the CES Committee is a proclamation honoring retired educators.

“Governor Kemp has proclaimed Sunday, November 5, 2023, as Retired Educators Day in Georgia. We received a request from the local chapter to issue a proclamation honoring the invaluable contributions retired educators have made in our community,” according to the agenda document.

Both committees will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 8:30 a.m. in the auditorium at the Evans Government Center.
