Columbia County is celebrating the grand reopening of the Columbia County Racquet Center on Monday, March 31, following an extensive series of renovations and repairs.

“After extensive renovations and improvements, the facility will reopen its full array of courts and amenities, providing a fresh, upgraded experience for residents and visitors alike,” stated a press release from Columbia County.

Among the additions are 10 brand-new pickleball courts, which will operate as part of a membership-based complex.

Columbia County residents will enjoy free membership, while non-residents can join for $500 per person annually. Members must register in person at the clubhouse to access the courts and use the online reservation system.

“Once registered, members will be able to reserve pickleball courts up to seven days in advance through the online reservation system,” stated a press release from Columbia County. “Non-members will not have access to the online reservation system until they’ve officially signed up at the clubhouse.”

In addition to the pickleball expansion, several infrastructure upgrades have been completed. These include new signage at the park entrance, reconfigured parking lots and a wide range of repairs resulting from Hurricane Helene.

Recovery efforts included a new clubhouse roof, fencing and sidewalk repairs, storm-damaged tennis court lighting fixes, new windscreens, clay court restoration and deck repairs around the clubhouse.

“We are thrilled to reopen the Columbia County Racquet Center with such exciting improvements,” said Parks Operations Manager Wes Horton. “The new pickleball courts and facility upgrades will provide our community with first-class amenities, and we are proud to offer a space for recreation, fitness and fun.”
