Columbia County to hold 9/11 Day of Remembrance Ceremony

Columbia County Fire Rescue is holding a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb with Remembrance Ceremony on Sept. 11.

There ceremony, which is free to the pubic, will take place at the Plaza Parking Deck, 7015 Evans Town Center Blvd.

The ceremony will start at 8:15 a.m. with the Columbia County Fire Rescue’s Color Guard presenting the colors. Following this will be a timeline of events, last call, ringing of the bell and a closing prayer.

Firefighters will then climb 55 flights of stair to in recognition of the 110 flights of stairs at the World Trade Center. Those in attendance can join the stair climb as well.

“A 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a way to never forget one of the most tragic days in American history and to honor the 343 FDNY firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11 in the World Trade Centers,” said a press release from Columbia County.
