The Columbia County Board of Commissioners will hold the third millage rate hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 6 and then vote on the 2024-2025 millage rate during the meeting.

County Manager Scott Johnson previously said when setting the budget for 2024-25, the county projected a 5% increase in the digest, but when numbers came it, it was actually an 8% increase. Because of that, the county is recommending a rollback from 4.895 mills to 4.795 mills for the Net M&O millage rate.

“Applicant, William Jackson,Jr., 2823 Dozier Rd, stated one of his tenants has been there for several years doing remodeling and cabinet work. A new tenant that is taking over that space for cabinet work had his business license denied due to the property being zoned C-2 instead of C-3. Spencer Quick, 1144 Hunters Cove, stated that he is a one man shop that will be doing cabinets and woodwork,” according to the agenda document.
