Columbia County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will host its annual Public Safety and Preparedness Fair on Saturday, May 3, offering residents a free and family-friendly opportunity to engage with emergency responders and learn valuable safety tips.
The event, held at Evans Towne Center Park, located at 7016 Evans Town Center Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will showcase a wide range of emergency preparedness demonstrations and public safety displays. Attendees can explore dive team boats, HAZMAT trucks, fire safety houses and emergency response vehicles.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office will offer Child I.D. services and a K-9 demonstration, highlighting the tools and training used to protect the community, according to a press release from Columbia County.
Local departments including Columbia County Fire Rescue, the Sheriff’s Office, and EMA will participate alongside more than two dozen community partners such as Grovetown and Harlem law enforcement, Shepeard Blood Center, The Red Cross, AUAirCare, Gold Cross and other emergency service providers.
“The Public Safety and Preparedness Fair is a great opportunity for all of us to learn more about protecting our families, ourselves, and our property,” said Director of Columbia County EMA Shawn Granato. “This is more important than ever as we continue to recover from Hurricane Helene.”
Beyond the safety exhibits, the fair will feature live music, food trucks, free rides, and face painting, creating an interactive and enjoyable experience for all ages.
Organizers encourage all Columbia County residents to attend and take part in this engaging event aimed at strengthening community preparedness and resilience.
“We appreciate the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Rescue, and other county agencies working together to increase public awareness about how we can all contribute to keeping our community safe,” Granato.
