A Columbia Middle School student was found with a knife on campus on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

According to an email sent out by the school, after administrators were notified that a student had a knife on campus, the Columbia County School District Police found the knife in the student’s possession. While no threats were made, the knife was shown to several students. The student will be held accountable according to the law and code of conduct.

“Safety of students and staff is a top priority and we take incidents such as these extremely seriously and willinvestigate fully. Parents, please speak with your children about items that are not appropriate for school and the serious consequences that will follow. Suspicious behavior should immediately be reported to a teacher, school administrator or Columbia County School District Police. If you see something, say something. Working together we can continue to provide a safe, positive learning environment for students and staff,” the email said.

This isn’t the third incident involving a knife on a Columbia County school campus this week. On Tuesday, Oct. 29, a Martinez Elementary School student was found with a knife on campus. On Monday, Oct. 28, a Harlem High School student was found with a pocket knife on campus. Last week, on Friday, Oct. 25, an Evans High School student was found with a knife on campus.

Evans Middle School student found with throwing star

An Evans Middle School student was found with a sharp, multi-sided blade, also known as a throwing star, on campus, according to a letter that was sent to parents.

The student showed the throwing star to a teacher, who confiscated it and contact administration. The Columbia County School District Police secured the object and the student will be held accountable according to the code of conduct.

“While no threats were made, the object was shown to other students,” the letter said.
