Comedians, concerts, and fight nights to appear in July show round-up

There are several upcoming shows in July to watch at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center (CCPAC), the Bell Auditorium, and Miller Theater.

Comedian Matt Matthews will bring his comedy tour to the CCPAC on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13. Both shows will begin at 8 p.m. Ticket prices range from $25.50 to $65.50.

Matthews is a stand-up comedian and a social media influencer. He rose to fame during the COVID-19 pandemic when he posted funny social media posts and videos, which increased his TikTok followers to over 3 million and his Instagram followers to over 1 million. Matthews is also the host of the popular podcast, Real Talk with Matt Matthews.

The Hawk Law Group will host a Bookbag Bash at the Bell Auditorium on Saturday, July 13 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. This event is free.

The Bookbag Bash is a back-to-school event to provide free school supplies from students from kindergarten through 12th grade. There will be free family entertainment, like costume characters meet and greets and bouncy houses.

Asia will perform their “The Heat of The Moment” tour on Thursday, July 18 at the CCPAC. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Ticket prices range between $39.50 and $99.50.

Other artists to be featured in this concert include Focus, Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash, and Curved Air. Roger Dean will emcee the concert.

Drivin n Cryin will come to Miller Theater on Friday, July 19 with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the concert starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Drivin n Cryin is celebrating their 35th anniversary. They formed in 1985 and played their first show at 688 Club in Atlanta. Since then, they have played across the US and have been inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and the Wisconsin Music Hall of Fame. Some songs that will be played at the concert include “Fly Me Courageous,” “Let’s Go Dancin’,” and “The Innocent.”

Fight Night in the CSRA will come to the Bell Auditorium on Saturday, July 20, starting at 5 p.m. Tickets start at $44.

Movies at the Miller will return on Sunday, July 21 with a showing of Kung Fu Panda. The doors will open at 3 p.m., and the movie will begin at 4 p.m. This event is free.

Kung Fu Panda is about a panda who dreams of being a kung fu master but is too lazy and clumsy to fulfill his dream until an evil villain threatens his homeland, and the panda is chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy to defeat the villain.

The A1A, the official and original Jimmy Buffett tribute show, will come to Miller Theater on Friday, July 26 with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the concert starting at 7:30 p.m. Prices range $33 to $103. Derrick Dove will open the show.

VIP tickets include early venue entry to the Ellefson Transportation Group Pre-Party, two drink tickets, an all-you-can-eat dinner from Mosh Pit Eats during the pre-party, meet and greet with A1A and Derrick Dove, and a photo opportunity with the band.

The A1A formed in 1991. They won a Jimmy Buffett Sound Alike Contest in 1992, which solidified their title as the official and original Jimmy Buffett tribute band. In 2016, A1A performed with Jimmy Buffett and Mac McAnally at The Masters. Some songs that will be played at the concert include “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” “Margaritaville, and “A Pirate Looks at Forty,” among many others.

Summer of Fire: Hip Hop Newest Heat will come to the Bell Auditorium on Saturday, July 27. The show will begin at 7 p.m., and tickets start at $59.

BossMan Dlow, Yung Miami, Hunxho, and Big Stunt are among some of the acts to perform at the Summer of Fire.
