Comedy On Tap March 27

Collin Moulton will be part of a comedy show March 27 at the Augusta Elks Club Special

Date: March 18, 2021

Comedians Collin Moulton and Jenn Snyder plan to bring a night of laughs to the Augusta Elks Lodge March 27. This is the second comedy event at the site this year.

“We did one on Feb. 13 and drew a decent crowd,” said promoter Jackson Brown, who hopes to make the comedy shows a monthly event.

Brown has promoted comedy shows for years and had a club in Myrtle Beach at one time. He’s tried to open one in Augusta, but the concept hasn’t taken off here. He hopes that this will draw comedy fans out.

Headlining the event is Moulton. Performing comedy for more than two decades, he’s been on Nickelodeon and Showtime. “Anti-Animal Vegan,” one of his stand-up routines, is available at the Dry Bar Comedy website, where it has received more than 40 million views, according to Moulton’s website.

Snyder, who will open the show, is out of Columbia, Brown said.

Brown said that he’s gotten feedback from Augustans that they are hungry for comedy, and he hopes they will support events such as this one. The Elks Club had expressed an interest in offering a regular comedy show, but club officials weren’t sure how to get the event going.

After two decades working with comedians in Georgia and South Carolina, Brown said he has connections to make these comedy nights happen on a regular basis.

The March 27 event will have limited seating, and people will be requested to wear masks.

“We’re not selling more than 100 tickets,” he said.

Light refreshments will be available.

The show will start at 8 p.m. and last about two hours.

Brown said one question he gets asked about a lot pertains to a comedian’s style.

“People are worried about the language,” he said.

While it’s an adult show, it’s not one expletive after another, he said.

“The biggest complaint I hear is that young comedians depend too much on the four-letter words they’re using rather than their material,” he said.

Some comedians are interested in plush jobs with cruise lines, and to get those gigs, they have to have some clean comedy, he said.

Brown said he’s already planning for another comedy event on April 24.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

The lodge is located at 205 Elkdom Court, off Fury’s Ferry Road in Augusta.
