“Animal shelters are brimming with happy, healthy pets just waiting for someone to take them home,” said Glasscock.

All pets have been neutered or spayed and have reasonable prices. Adoption fees will vary depending on the organization.

“When you adopt, you save a loving animal by making them part of your family and open up shelter space for another animal who might desperately need it,” she said.

Library Card Sign-Up Month

This September, the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System (ARCPLS) is joining the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide for library card sign-up month. This is a time to remind parents, caregivers and students that a library card is the first step towards academic achievement and lifelong learning, according to a news release from the library.

“A library card opens a world of infinite possibilities through resources and services that give students the tools to succeed in school and beyond. From STEAM programs, family story times, to makerspaces and in-person or virtual homework help, libraries transform lives through education. A library card gives you the ability to access family fun activities at the Atlanta Zoo, state museums or state parks to name a few,” the news release said.
