An agreement for a new contract for ambulance and other services from Gold Cross EMS is on the agenda for the Columbia County Community and Emergency Services Committee (CES) on Tuesday, April 22.

According to the agenda document, the one-year contract will be from June 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 for 1,543,750. It will be paid in monthly installments from the EMS budget.

There are a few changes to the contract from the previous one. These include:

  • Adding one additional dedicated, 24/7 ALS ambulance for a total of eight.
  • Adding one additional 12 hour per day, Monday through Friday, BLS ambulance.
  • Reducing from three to one quick response vehicles (QRV).
  • Emergency medical responder (EMR) removed from contract

The reason given for the additional ambulances is that they will help meet the increasing demand during peak hours for pre-hospital services in Columbia County.
