Coroner identifies two victims in latest Augusta slayings

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has released the names of two young men killed in separate homicides on Saturday night.

Kyan Michael Bowie, 22, of Hephzibah, was shot on the 2100 block of B Street in Olmstead Homes around 9:20 p.m. Saturday and died at 9:33 p.m. after being rushed to Augusta University Medical Center in a private vehicle, authorities said.

Tymarkus Dashawn Starkes, 20, of Augusta, was shot at 1949 Old Savannah Rd. around 10:20 p.m. Saturday and was pronounced dead on the scene about an hour later, Coroner Mark Bowen said.

The sheriff’s office said Saturday night that they were unsure whether the slayings were related. They took place about five miles apart.

No suspect information or motives were released.
