Date: May 07, 2025

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office has identified human remains discovered behind a residence in Aiken as those of 73-year-old homeowner Daniel Reibsome.

The cause and manner of death remain under investigation, but authorities say there are no signs of foul play.

The investigation began on the evening of March 24, after a neighbor conducting a well-being check on Reibsome called the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office shortly before 8 p.m. Upon discovering the remains behind the home at 283 Woodfield Road, law enforcement responded immediately.

Deputy Coroner Eric J. Ramey stated that the Coroner’s Office arrived on the scene around 8:40 p.m. March 24 and confirmed the discovery. The remains were later transported to Newberry Pathology for further examination and made the identification working alongside the Richland County Coroner’s Office Forensic Anthropology team.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Reibsome’s death.
