In November 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia issued a press release that contained ten names of persons convicted of methamphetamine trafficking. One of those names was Donnie Skillman. In an attempt to be accurate, The Augusta Press searched for a more complete name and located the name of Donnie Gene Skillman, Jr. That name and photograph of Donnie Gene Skillman, Jr., were used in The Augusta Press article regarding the federal prosecutions that was published on Nov. 17, 2024. The Donnie Gene Skillman, Jr., name was incorrect. Further investigation showed the correct name was Donnie O. Skillman.
The Augusta Press apologizes for the error made in misidentifying Mr. Skillman.
