Deana Carter is ready to do what she loves– sing for a live audience.

“This is the longest time since I was in college that I haven’t performed,” said Carter, who will bring an acoustic set to the Bell Auditorium at 7:30 p.m., March 26. “I can’t wait to be back on stage.”

This year marks the 25th anniversary of her multi-platinum debut album, “Did I Shave My Legs For This?” and the smash hit “Strawberry Wine.” Her Augusta concert will showcase this milestone. She said it promises to be a more personal event.

“My husband will play guitar. He’s pretty easy on the eyes,” she said. “He’ll be sitting next to me.”

The silver anniversary of her debut recording will be the focus of the concert. Carter said she’ll be sharing stories, singing songs and connecting with the audience.

A native of Nashville, Tenn., Carter divided her time between Los Angeles and Nashville for many years until she and her husband moved to Florida’s Gulf Coast last year. The daughter of studio guitarist Fred Carter Jr., she was exposed to a variety of different song styles growing up. Her father worked with musicians like Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel and Waylon Jennings.

Carter has recorded seven albums. Released in 2013, “Southern Way of Life” is her most recent album.

She’s also appeared in several movies including “A Very Country Christmas,” a 2017 film about a country music singer who leaves that life behind to rediscover his roots. In the process, he finds love.

“Being part of that was so much fun,” she said. “I wished they’d make a series.”

During her pandemic-imposed hiatus, Carter said she started writing music inspired by her beach surroundings.

“I’m not sure what will happen with my beach songs,” she said.

She spent a lot of her lockdown livestreaming concerts and events. She’s just getting back on the road this month. She’s playing the Outlaws and Legends Music Festival March 19-21 in Abilene, Texas. Other headliners to that include Willie Nelson, Randy Houser, Kevin Fowler and Lee Roy Parnell.

She will embark on her acoustic tour after that.
